Our 200 ha dairy platform and 80 ha attached support farm and nearby 95 ha runoff are in the Maruia Valley. It is 45 minutes to Reefton; and 2½ hour’s drive to Nelson. This is a renowned farm for sharemilkers to be able to move forward and buy their own farm. We have a solid 40-bale rotary, with auto cup removers and auto teat sprayer (1 person can milk if required). With in-shed feeding. The farm is fully self-contained, including replacements; typically using home-grown supplements (silage and baleage). Growing swede and kale crops for winter. The long-term production sits at around 185,000 MS from 520 cows peak milked OAD all season (winter 550 approx). The departing sharemilker may have a dairy herd available to purchase. The sharemilker plus 2 full time staff with occasional relief milker are required to run the whole business. There is a primary school and bus in Maruia. We are looking for good people who will love their cows and the outdoors. Having initiative, a sound work ethic, being a good communicator, honesty, and most importantly great pasture management and feed allocation skills.
