**About the Farm**
We are a well-run, system focused dairy farm milking 470 cows on 150 ha of flat, free-draining, easy-to-manage land. It's a System 2 grass-focused operation, supplementing with home-grown maize and grass silage as required to meet demand. The farm is easy going and well maintained, offering an ideal setup for someone stepping up in their career while enjoying a straightforward, learning-focused environment.
**Farm & Systems**
Tidy 36-aside herringbone shed with:
- Automatic teat sprayer
- Automatic cup removers
- Dafting gate
- CowManager heat/health detection system
Milking time: Approximately 2 hours
Milking routine:
- Twice daily until early December (5:30am / 2:30pm)
- 3-in-2 over summer (5:30am / 5:30pm / 10:30am)
- Once-a-day from early February (7am)
Key seasons:
- Calving: Mid-July to mid-September
- Mating: 6th October to 15th December (all AI, no bulls)
**The Role**
Due to a key team member leaving to progress into a manager's role, we're seeking a motivated Herd Manager / 2IC to lead and support daily operations. You'll be hands-on across all farm aspects, including:
- Feed management and grazing plans
- Cow health, animal husbandry, and treatments
- Mating management and heat detection oversight
- Calf rearing and young stock management (calves leave for grazing late December)
- Milking operations and quality assurance
- Break fencing
- Machinery work
- Weed control and general farm maintenance

**About You**
We're prioritising the right person:
- 2–3 years dairy experience preferred (but a strong work ethic, genuine desire to progress, and positive attitude are most important)
- Competent or willing to work with technology (e.g., CowManager systems, Drafting gate, Minda etc)
- Attention to detail, honesty, and strong communication skills
- Reliable, proactive, and committed to high standards
- Eligible to work in New Zealand

- 30–40 hours/week from Christmas onward
- Regular 2–3 hour lunch breaks
- Finish times almost always before 5:30pm, even through calving
