The owners have been on farm for 30 years and it has grown over time, with two underpasses and good farm races. We are taking on the farm as contract milkers with high targets, with the tools and skill set to achieve. We need a competent Assistant manager to work with us, with the same ambition for farm success. Applicant needs to be proficient in all matters of dairy farming, including but not limited to: - Milking cows in a herringbone cowshed, good with numbers. - Identifying, preventing and treating mastitis, lameness, milk fever, and typical dairy cow ailments in New Zealand dairy farming systems. Five Horizons is a sheep dairy farm in Mercer. We milk 1200 ewes and rear 450 replacement lambs. We also have cattle on farm that we finish. We supply Spring Sheep and this will be our fourth season. Our flock size is stable but the industry is still growing so there is opportunity for growth in the future. We have two experienced full time staff members and we are looking for an experienced farm assistant to join our team. The primary task is milking twice a day (roster varying depending on season), feeding out with silage wagon, animal health tasks in the yard, shifting stock etc. The pay rate is dependent on skill level and will be reviewed every 12 months. We are ideally located halfway between Hamilton and Auckland with our closest main centre being Pukekohe. There is a Woolworths supermarket 10 minutes away in Pokeno. There are two primary schools within a 10 minute drive (Te Paina and Mangatawhiri), and several high schools within a 30 minute drive (Tuakau, Pukekohe, Hauraki Plains). Our roster varies depending on the season: Lambing (July-Sept): 6 days on, 1 day off Summer/Autumn (October-April): 8 days on, three days off, 8 days on, 2 days off) Winter (May-July): 5 days on, 2 days off, with occasional weekend hours rostered on. We are looking for a great, confident and experienced 2IC for our fully Autumn calving 370 cow farm in Morrinsville Waikato. We are located 5 minutes from both Morrinsville and Gordonton and 30 mins from the center of Hamilton with many great schools and daycares close by. We are looking for someone who is reliable and enthusiastic, loves working in a team environment, enjoys tractor work and wants to grow their future. We are a fully autumn calving farm with a mating system that includes Alflex collars and an automated pro-track drafting gate making this busy time of year a breeze. We have a good herringbone shed with automatic cup removers and a feed pad which joins to our yard. All machinery is near new and we pride ourselves on keeping an efficient and well maintained farm. The right candidate will have experience with loading up and feeding out on a feedpad, they will also have a good understanding of pasture management and have the willingness and interest to develop your knowledge on this. Animal health and stockmanship is extremely important to us and something the right candidate will also be passionate about. We have a great team and family environment and provide opportunities for learning and moving up through the management system. We support AG ITO and any other learning programmes. As 2IC you will be required to support the Farm Manager in leading their farming operation and will be responsible for supporting managerial activities and driving operational performance within their Team. We have a job for an experienced farm worker (3+ years) for an Assistant Manager position on a farm in the South Waikato District, Waikato. This is for a 300 – 400 cow farm, milking through a Herringbone shed. You'll have a range of responsibilities including the day-to-day management support including: - Milking - Shed Management - Animal Husbandry and Production - Animal Health Monitoring, Management and Treatment - Pasture and fodder Management - Maintenance of Shed, Equipment and Machinery - Know and meet regulatory rules & requirements - Breeding, Calving and Calf rearing Management - Cattle transportation - Contractor Organisation and Management - Staff Management - and other general farm duties Weekly hours are a minimum of 35, average of 48 and a maximum of 50 for the salary. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours. Salary is up to $90,000 per annum subject to experience. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4am and go through 5pm with meal and rest breaks. Candidates will have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
