Farm Assistant / 2IC (Second In Charge)
A full-time position has become available for a motivated and enthusiastic farm assistant/2IC to join our team (there is also the possibility of regular part time work for a partner). Farm is located near Whataroa (South Westland), milking 700 cows through a modern 60 bale rotary with automatic cup removers and teat spray, automatic drafting and Allflex collars. We offer generous time off - 4 weeks holiday - and an 11 on 3 off roster through the majority of the season (Calving period operates 12 on 2 off). Happy to employ new entrants to the industry that show the right attributes - training is provided. The role (including but not limited too): - Assist in all aspects of the day to day running of a progressive dairy farm - Milking - mastitis detection, treatments, maintain a clean working environment - General farm duties - weed management, animal husbandry, break fences, all day-to-day jobs relating to the efficient running of a dairy farm - Tractor/machinery operation - Maintain a high level of workmanship The applicant: - Must be a New Zealand resident or have/be able to obtain a valid working visa - have a valid driver's licence - Dairying experience is desirable but not essential - positive personal attributes is important. - Able to pass a drug test if required Look forward to hearing from all potential employees - if you do not have a resume, a simple cover letter with details about yourself and contact details of referees is adequate - (blank applications will not be responded to).
