We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and progressive farm operator to run our 1000 cow farm. The farm is located at Hillend, Otago, milking 1000 cows on approx. 440 ha, 15 minutes from Balclutha. The successful applicant will have sole charge of the daily operation including liaising with graziers regarding young stock and winter grazing. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their ability with managing effective teams, pasture production, animal health and financial independence. We are also looking for someone that has a strong affinity with farm H&S, environmental compliance and farm reporting procedures. We are seeking to form a long term mutually beneficial relationship with someone who brings a positive attitude and a desire to work with supportive absentee owners. Contract milker required to provide farm machinery (Tractors, motor bikes, silage wagon, mower, calf rearing equipment etc) This opportunity would be suited to someone with a strong grounding in people, animal husbandry, and feed management skills. Key infrastructure includes two cowsheds - 54 bail rotary cowshed with in-shed feeding, ACR's and auto drafting, plus 40 a/s HB cowshed. All effluent infrastructure has been fully upgraded and consented in 2025. Milk production is supported with grain feeding through the rotary cowshed, pasture silage, summer turnips and autumn fodder beet.
