We’re on the lookout for a motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join our friendly team on a 600-cow farm. Experience is preferred but not required for this role. The role offers a wide variety of daily tasks to keep you learning and engaged, including: - Milking (twice a day) - Shifting cows & feeding out - Fencing & general maintenance - Weed control - Calving & calf rearing - Shed cleaning & setup - Spotting sick cows & alerting the manager - and other general farm duties Hours & Roster: Usually between 4:30am – 5:30pm (with meal and rest breaks) Weekly hours: 35–45 (occasional extra hours may be needed depending on the season/weather) Pay: $23.50 – $29.00/hr (depending on experience) Candidates will ideally have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. We have a job for a dairy farm assistant who must have 1+ years’ dairy farm experience and be a resident/citizen as employer will not be accredited. This is for a 1300 cow farm in the Bainham area, 18 minutes from Collingwood, milking through an 80 Bail Rotary shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - Shifting cows and feeding - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing, - Shed cleaning and setup, - Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - And other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 40. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for any hours beyond the maximum hours. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4am and go through 5pm with meal and rest breaks. Wage is up to $29.00 per hour subject to experience. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. We’re on the lookout for a capable Fencer General to work alongside the owner, helping repair and improve farm infrastructure, you will also be supporting day-to-day dry stock work to hit performance targets. About the farm This farm is approximately 200ha of dry-stock farm, which runs across four blocks with up to 2,300 stock units plus winter cow grazing, with around 85% of those units being cattle. It carries ewes, young cattle, bulls, carryover cows and dairy replacements over flat river terraces to steep hill faces, giving plenty of scope to grow stock and pasture skills in a varied, hands-on environment. The role comes with a tidy farmhouse and garage; it is set on a big sunny lawn and views out to bush-clad hills. Offering a private, relaxed spot to come back to at the end of the day. What you’ll be doing Farm infrastructure: maintaining farm infrastructure, including building and repairing conventional fencing, looking after stock water systems, carrying out weed control, and keeping yards, sheds and buildings in good order, reporting any damage or larger maintenance needs. Machinery & gear care: Operating tractors/implements and keeping gear tidy, safe, and looked after with basic maintenance and repairs. Feeding & seasonal dry stock work: Responsible for day-to-day feeding and seasonal stock work, including helping implement the forage cropping programme and working with contractors, feeding crops and supplements to meet performance targets, mustering and yarding, weighing, recording and trucking stock. You’ll also assist with animal health and key seasonal jobs such as lambing, calving, shearing, docking/tailing, calf marking, drafting for sale and weaning. Dogs, records, and safety: You will be working with 2–3 well-controlled dogs each day, keeping simple daily diary records of stock and treatments, and following farm Health & Safety expectations.

We milk 550 cows through 36 bail rotary shed with ACR and in shed feeding. We are looking for a person who: - can milk solely in the shed but also a team player - has a full driver’s license - is honest, reliable and a good communicator - is drug free and willing to undergo pre employment drug test Your role will be: - milking - break fence - weed control - feeding out - cleaning - and other general farm duties We have a shared accommodation available sharing with another person.
