We have a job for a dairy farm assistant who will ideally have 2+ years’ New Zealand dairy farm experience. This is for a 400 cow farm in the Kokatahi area, 30 minutes from Hokitika, milking through a 36 Aside Herringbone shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - Shifting cows and feeding - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing - Shed cleaning and setup - Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, should you work beyond the agreed maximum hours in a fortnightly pay period, you will be paid the agreed overtime hourly rate for each additional hour worked. The schedule may vary; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off. Wage is between $23.50 - $29.00 per hour subject to experience. Candidates are required to provide good related references. We have a position available on an 400-cow farm milking in Kowhitirangi, milking through a 34 aside herringbone. We utilise Halter. This could suit a couple as hours can be available on weekends for milkings to cover sharemilkers time off. You would be assisting with general farm duties, including milking cows, feeding calves, repair and maintenance, putting up fences. Tractor driving, fertiliser, feeding out. Picking cows for AI would be an advantage. The suitable candidate would be someone who is physically fit, enjoys rural life and works well in a team environment. Must have a clear police and drug history. Must be willing to submit to random drug testing on farm. 4 bedroom accommodation available. Must be physically fit. Roster 11 on 3 off. We milk 650 cows through a 48 bale cow shed with auto teat spray and automatic cup removers. The farm is flat contour, tidy and well setup and located approximately 10 mins to Hokitika. We run an 11 and 3 roster with a max hours of 55, hours over the year are variable but will average a lot lower than 55. We run a team of 3 full time workers and there is always 2 people working. Dairy Farm Assistant. Milking 490 cows through 40 rotary shed. 25mins to Greymouth located in the Grey Valley. Live out preferred, single accommodation may be an option. Days of work 4 on 3 off with one being a weekend day. Hours over 4 days 30-40 hrs. Flexible days of work to suit other employees.
