We are a small family owned farm located 5 minutes from Hawera township. We milk 180 crossbreed cows through a 22 aside herringbone with automatic cup removers and have an in-shed feed system. We operate on a basic grass based system with cow health our big priority. We are seeking to employ someone to rent our house and work on the farm as a full time milker. Ideally the person would be experienced in cowsheds and capable of operating the shed solo outside the busy season. During the spring we would like to have extra help with getting cows and calves in and maybe a few other basic jobs like setting up breaks, dusting and tractor work feeding out. The hours per week would be 20-30 hours through the season. With the consideration of going once a day in February. Pay will be hourly by negotiation and experience. The roster and days off will be set by negotiation. The person applying for this position will have at least 2-3 years experience in milking cows. Be confident driving a tractor and be confident managing the cowshed. We require someone who is happy to work alone at times and can problem solve when necessary. There is a tidy 3 bedroom house available on the property to rent.
