Our Farm is 155 effective hectares of flat to rolling dairy land, located 5 mins from New Plymouth. We spring calve 450 crossbred cows and milk through a 44 bale Rotary cowshed. OAD all season. We are a predominantly pasture-based system, supported by additional supplement as required. Mating is 10 weeks total, with 3.5 weeks of AI and 6.5 weeks of bulls. Calving date of 20th July. We are looking for an Assistant Farm Manager. The role will require you to help lead our team to create a positive high-performing culture and drive productivity and efficiencies. You will be set up to succeed with clear farm targets and goals and support from the Farm Owner when required. This role is suited to people that are self-motivated, have a team-first approach and can communicate well both up and down the management chain. Responsibilities include, training and management of the team Pasture Management and Feed allocation Keeping all animal records and compliance up to date Herd health, reproduction, and wellbeing Management reporting Upkeep of farm and general maintenance Our roster is 3 days off each fortnight, with only essential work carried out in the weekends. The owners have been on farm for 30 years and it has grown over time, with two underpasses and good farm races. We are taking on the farm as contract milkers with high targets, with the tools and skill set to achieve. We need a competent Assistant manager to work with us, with the same ambition for farm success. Applicant needs to be proficient in all matters of dairy farming, including but not limited to: - Milking cows in a herringbone cowshed, good with numbers. - Identifying, preventing and treating mastitis, lameness, milk fever, and typical dairy cow ailments in New Zealand dairy farming systems.
