We run a 550 cow farm under pivot irrigation milking in a 40 aside herringbone shed. We require a hard working, reliable and motivated 2IC to join our team for the 2026/27 season. You will work closely with the sharemilkers, making this position a great opportunity for you to further your farming knowledge and skills to progress through the industry. Dairy Farm Assistant required. The position involves supporting the Farm Managers in achieving the farm’s production and profit goals through assisting with the day-to-day operation of the farm, and to follow good animal health and welfare, and environmental practices. Previous experience on a dairy farm, driving two wheelers and tractors would be an advantage but is not essential. All training can be provided and for specific farm operational procedures. We have 3 positions available for calf rearers near Rangiora. We have 1300 cows and rear 350 replacements in total over 2 farms. The focus is on attention to detail and healthy replacement and bobby calves as well as running an efficient calf rearing system. All roles require a strong, physically capable person able to handle calves. The farms are 1km from Rangiora. Accommodation is available for all positions if required. 1. Lead calf rearer – this person will be responsible for the calf rearing team and be involved with planning with the farm manager. This role requires proven experience with calf rearing and an ability to work with staff. The role is fulltime from late July to late September, and then hours reducing until all the calves are weaned in early December. 2. Calf rearing 2ic – this role will be to support the lead calf rearer and maintain high standards. This is a fulltime position from late July to late September. The shed is fitted with Acrs, walkover teatsprayer, Protrack drafting, and has covered side yards for working in all conditions. The farm is Flat to rolling and very tidy. We seek someone who loves working with cows, is willing to progress, strives to work to the best of their ability, and wants to maintain and be proud to work to a high standard. Duties include but are not limited to, Milking, feeding dairy cows and calves, temporary and permanent fencing, spraying, animal health detection and treatment, farm maintenance, plant cleaning, and tractor work.
