You will work closely with the sharemilkers, making this position a great opportunity for you to further your farming knowledge and skills to progress through the industry. As sharemilkers we aim to foster a positive working environment with all team members encouraged to join in on farm discussions. We are looking for someone who is motivated and keen to progress through the dairy industry with a strong work ethic, good attention to detail and efficient time management. Our farm is located in the Canterbury foothills in Mount Somers which is 20 minutes from Methven and 30 minutes to Ashburton and we milk twice daily through a 40 aside herringbone cowshed with grain feeders, auto cup removers and auto teat spray. You will work as part of team to complete daily jobs of milking (twice daily), moving stock, setting up paddocks, tractor work, spraying, moving k-lines for effluent as well as general maintenance and cleaning. During this time of year we are moving stock on winter crops at the run off and doing maintenance jobs. We would prefer someone with at least one year experience. We're looking for someone for a 2IC assistant manager role due to our current 2IC progressing to a management role in the industry, after over two year with us. Start date negotiable anytime between July and November. This is a permanent position with your own accommodation provided on-farm. Your position will consist of helping the herd owner/ farm manager operate the farm on day to day basis and leading the operation of the farm when the manager isn’t present.
