My clients are seeking a motivated and experienced Contract Milker or Farm Manager who is passionate about dairying. They are looking for a pasture focussed farmer who values animal welfare and takes pride in running a tidy, well-managed farm. About the Role The successful applicant will bring several years of management and/or contract milking experience. Key skills include: - Strong pasture and feed management - Proven animal health and welfare practices - Milking management expertise - Competence with farm machinery The farm is a mix of flat to rolling hills that has been running approximately 350 cows over the last 3 years with cows milked Once a Day. With the introduction of Halter Collars, the plan is to increase numbers to 390 cows while improving pasture utilisation. The successful applicant must have the skills to adapt to new technologies. Farm Details - Herd: 390 Jersey cows, calving 9th August - Runoff: 24 ha, grazing yearling replacements - Supplements: The farm is 100 percent self-contained, growing its own baleage and forage crops - Infrastructure: 30 aside herringbone cowshed (10 years old), calving barn, excellent races and fencing - Halter Collars: The farm has just had Halter installed with collars on the cows and R2 heifers - Production: Averaging 100,000 kgMS over the last 3 years, from 340 cows - Machinery: Modern and well-maintained Primary schools are located at Colyton or Feilding, with high schools in either Feilding or Palmerston North. The farm is 25 minutes from Feilding, 30 minutes to Palmerston North and 40 minutes to Massey University.
