We are: Our Farm is a very tidy 186 effective hectares of flat dairy land. Located on the edge of Waverley township in South Taranaki, we are a spring calving operation and milk 600 crossbred cows through a 70-bale rotary shed with automatic cup removers, in-shed feeding and auto drafting gate. The farm system is level 2-3 with a strong focus on pasture, supported by imported maize and silage along with an in-shed blend and a summer turnip crop. Our cows wear allflex collars and calves are DNA profiled. Soil fertility is optimum and pasture grows well. Calves leave the farm in December and return as in-calf heifers. A 3-bedroom home with fireplace, heat pump, double garage with internal access, and tennis court for the Contract Milker, along with two further houses for use by farm staff, are part of the package. Roughly 150 cows are sent out to external winter grazing annually. We are young supportive and open-minded Farm Owners looking for the right candidate to fit into our wider business. The Offer: Estimated Production of 230,000 kgMS (1st full season with farm in its current state) Contract Rate $1.40 upwards /kgMS (negotiated above once running budgets) CM Expenses: 3 Labour units (CM is included as one), Farm Power, Shed Expenses, Rubberware and Fuel. Contract Milker must provide a minimum of two 4-wheel vehicles, (quad bike, side by side or ute) and a spray unit. Our ideal candidate will be: An experienced hands-on farmer, with a minimum of 2 years as a Contract Milker. A motivated, reliable and a proactive manager of people who can lead them to deliver results. Someone who communicates well to the on-farm team and other key stakeholders A proven pasture manager with good skills and understanding of pasture farming. An analytical thinker who understands the numbers, thinks big picture, and owns the process. Someone aware of the importance of managing compliance and legislative requirements on farm Proud of your workplace and maintain a high level of care for both the farm assets and the herd. The role will require you to drive productivity and efficiencies. Working with support from a farm advisor on behalf of the owner, you will have regular on farm visits. Employment will begin on the 1st of June 2026. The farm is 30 min drive to Wanganui. Brilliant local Primary school, Kohanga Reo, Playcentres and Kindergartens are close by, and a school bus is available for both Hawera and Wanganui secondary schools.
