Ohauiti Farm is a family-owned well-established dairy farm situated 70 minutes north of Christchurch in Culverden. We are offering a one year FTC, with the possibility of it becoming a permanent position, for a farm assistant with the skills and enthusiasm to carry out all the general farm duties and tractor work you would expect on a 520 cow dairy farm. The farm is a 40 aside herringbone, with in-shed feeding and a Protrack herd welfare monitoring system. You will be required to exhibit enthusiasm, have great communication skills and possess the desire to grow their career within our family business. You will need to be honest, reliable and with a sense of humour. This is an assistant level position, and you will need the following experience and skills: Experience/Skills: - Ability to milk cows with an emphasis on maintaining milk quality - Ability to maintain a well-kept tidy work environment in line with health and safety needs and good working practices - Good tractor and farm machinery operation (including motorbikes) - Calf rearing an advantage - Support with animal health programmes and uphold animal welfare standards - Accuracy with record keeping Personal Attributes: - Proactive, positive, can-do attitude - Friendly nature - High attention to detail - Willingness to learn - Comfortable with early starts - Team player Benefits: - Competitive salary - Kiwisaver - Potential bonus In addition, we offer on-site accommodation, excellent working conditions, a friendly team environment and supportive management.
