We have an opportunity for next season for an experienced farm manager. The farm milks 1250 cows located 10 minutes from Geraldine. About the farm: - 1250 jersey cows - 54 bail rotary, in shed feeding and automatic cup removers - Irrigation through pivots and guns - Accommodation supplied on farm is either a 3 bedroom home or a 4 bedroom home. The attributes ideally required for this position: - 4 years dairy farming experience in NZ - Be competent in the cowshed - Be able to identify and treat animal health issues - Competent using a tractor and riding motorbikes - Have top pasture allocation experience. - Work well in a team and be able to lead the team - Physically able to carry out the job - Have the desire to succeed in the industry - Most importantly the successful applicant must be honest, reliable, have good communication skills and be motivated. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. We are looking for an honest tidy person to manage/work on our 380-fresain cow farm. There is an opportunity for your partner to do the calf rearing in spring 1 to 2 hrs per morning and casual relief milking. The cowshed is a 30ashb shed. The position for manager is fulltime and comes with a tidy 3-to-4-bedroom house; it has a large stand-alone shed/garage and attached carport to the house. Primary and secondary schools are within 5kms. This farm is a grass-based system.
