We’re looking for an experienced Farm Manager with at least 3+ years of ideally New Zealand dairy experience to lead a 850 cow farm in the Morrinsville area. We are looking for a farm assistant to join our team, with at least 1 years of experience on dairy farm. Apart from the knowledge build up previously if you show you are passionate about the industry, have the right attitude and willingness to keep learning and work hard then you will be considered for the role. We contract milk 1350 cows in Bankside with Halter collar system. We milk through two sheds of 44 aside herringbone. In this moment one of the sheds has Protrack and in shed feed system. The successful applicant will be part of a six person team with support from the Contract Milkers. Your duties would eventually include all aspects of dairy farming including the following (but not limited to): Maintain fencing and water supply in a good working condition. Milking (Milking time 2.5-3 hours) - Break fencing if needed - General farm maintenance - Animal health (calf drenching, identify and treat mastitis, others) - Assist with a weed control programme for the farm. - Assisting with young stock (when required). We are small family owned and operated dairy farm with 450 jersey cows looking for our next permanent full-time Farm Assistant. Our farm is located in the Canterbury foothills in Mount Somers which is 20 minutes from Methven and 30 minutes to Ashburton and we milk twice daily through a 40 aside herringbone cowshed with grain feeders, auto cup removers and auto teat spray. You will work as part of team to complete daily jobs of milking (twice daily), moving stock, setting up paddocks, tractor work, spraying, moving k-lines for effluent as well as general maintenance and cleaning. During this time of year we are moving stock on winter crops at the run off and doing maintenance jobs. We would prefer someone with at least one year experience. We run a 11 days on and 3 days off roster so you generally get second Saturday, Sunday and Monday off. Accommodation is available in the township which is a 2 minute drive from the farm. We are looking for an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as a Herd Manager on a 700-cow farm in the Ashburton area. The farm is located 10-15 minutes to Ashburton, 30 minutes from Mt Hutt Ski Field. This role is open to NZ Citizens/Residents only. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality - Stock handling and feeding (feed management) - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing - Shed maintenance & preparation - Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - Monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - Other general farm duties. Candidates must have competent and strong milking, centre pivot, and tractor work experience. Weekly hours are a minimum of 40 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary; Roster would be 7 days on 2 days off. Salary ranges from $74,000 - $78,000 per annum, depending on experience. Phone allowance of $20 per fortnight. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. We are looking for someone that is motivated, reliable, good communication and can be a good role model to the team. Previous farm management experience a must. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. 🐄 Calf Rearer Wanted – Spring 2026 🐄 We're on the hunt for a motivated and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team from 23 July 2026 through to mid-October located just 3 minutes from Sheffield. About the Role; You'll be responsible for rearing approximately 130 replacement heifer calves from birth through to weaning. This is a lead calf rearing position with the support of other on farm staff on busy days. Our calf system is straightforward and well set up: - All calves receive their first feed via tube feeding - Calves are then transitioned onto an ad-lib feeding system once they are trained on feeders. - Straw, Meal and fresh water all available in their pens and are checked/refreshed/topped up daily. The farm will calve 630 cows total.
