We have an opportunity for next season for an experienced farm manager. The farm milks 1250 cows located 10 minutes from Geraldine. About the farm: - 1250 jersey cows - 54 bail rotary, in shed feeding and automatic cup removers - Irrigation through pivots and guns - Accommodation supplied on farm is either a 3 bedroom home or a 4 bedroom home. The attributes ideally required for this position: - 4 years dairy farming experience in NZ - Be competent in the cowshed - Be able to identify and treat animal health issues - Competent using a tractor and riding motorbikes - Have top pasture allocation experience. - Work well in a team and be able to lead the team - Physically able to carry out the job - Have the desire to succeed in the industry - Most importantly the successful applicant must be honest, reliable, have good communication skills and be motivated. We are seeking an experienced farm manager to join our team. The farm is local to Gore. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. We are looking for someone that is motivated, reliable, good communication and can be a good role model to the team. Previous farm management experience a must. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. Brightview Farms are on the lookout for a Block Manager for our beef and Dairy support blocks. Our farming operation is located in Western Southland, with the Dairy and Drystock/Support blocks located within 5 minutes of the Wairio/Nightcaps area. Our newest support farm is Woodstone Farm, an Agri Tourism business located 5 minutes from Te Anau. The operation consists of four support blocks, 10,000 su support farm (600ha of support blocks and are within a 10 minute radius of the dairy farms. The position will involve farm work, tractor work, with modern machinery (cultivation, sowing of crops, grass renewal) and stock work; breeding and fattening calves, heifers, bulls, sheep and winter grazing of dairy cattle. This role will be directly working with the Sharemilker, with opportunities to progress in the future to full management for the right person.
