This role will involve milking and feeding cows, understanding the principles of animal health, good understanding of animal husbandry, pasture management and general farm maintenance. To be successful in this role, you will need to have at least 2-3 years previous experience on a NZ dairy farm and industry qualifications are an advantage. Must have a positive attitude, willingness to learn and enjoy working in a supportive team environment. The farm is located 10-15 minutes to Ashburton, 30 minutes from Mt Hutt Ski Field. This role is open to NZ Citizens/Residents only. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality - Stock handling and feeding (feed management) - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing - Shed maintenance & preparation - Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - Monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - Other general farm duties. Start date negotiable anytime between July and November. This is a permanent position with your own accommodation provided on-farm. Your position will consist of helping the herd owner/ farm manager operate the farm on day to day basis and leading the operation of the farm when the manager isn’t present.
