Calf Rearer – Casual (Drive-In) Motuiti Farms – Foxton We are seeking a motivated and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team for the coming calving season (July to August / early September). This is a casual, drive-in position, located 5 minutes from Foxton township. About the Farm Motuiti Farms is a well-established, 10-year-old dairy farm with excellent calf-rearing infrastructure, including a 12-bay calf rearing shed located beside the milking shed. This position would involve running the day to day system on the dairy farm, grass, cows, staff. 900 cows calved in spring and 200 in autumn. Milk all year round. Strengths needed for this role is a good understanding of pasture management, animal husbandry, staff management, irrigation and an ability to problem solve. Due to our current farm manager wanting to have a change in his farming role, and our current 2ic getting another Managers role for next season, we are on the lookout for a motivated person who is keen to take the next step in the Dairy Industry. We are after a well rounded person that is after a dairy farm managers position in North Otago. We milk 1100 cows and have a split calving of 900 spring, and 200 autumn calvers. We milk all year and have acquired a feed pad to do this. We will winter cows on farm and we have an adjacent runoff where we run all our young stock. We have a 320ha platform that is irrigated via spray irrigation (Pivots, Fixed Grid, Kline). Cows are milked through a 60 bail Waikato Rotary cowshed. Its equipped with cup removers, Protrack and inshed feeding. We have used Allflex collars on our cows for 9 seasons and are looking into other options of wearables currently. The successful applicant would run the day to day management of the dairy platform. Cows, Grass, feeding, people and harvesting the milk in an efficient way. We would offer support through the farm owner and current manager working alongside the applicant to find their feet and to learn our system. We are seeking a keen and motivated person to manage our 132ha, 360 cow dairy farm. The farm is mainly flat with some rolling hills. It is a low system, low stress operation. The successful applicant would be responsible not just for the milk harvesting, pasture management, weed control but also the day to day management of a staff member. The 3 bedroom home on the farm is 5 minutes from the local township with a primary school and childcare centre. It is 20 minutes from Dannevirke. We are open to tailoring the position to suit the right person.

We are seeking an experienced milker & farmhand to assist with general farm duties and milking a 400 cow Friesian herd, in a 42 bale rotary milking shed with automatic cup removers. This is a full time position, and the roster is 12 days on, 2 days off (i.e every second weekend off). Morning milkings are usually between 4:30-7:30am and afternoons are usually between 2:00 – 4:30pm. Other farm duties you may be involved with will include general farm duties e.g: · Shifting cows & feeding · Fencing, weed control · Shed cleaning and set up · Identifying and alerting other staff/vet about sick animals You will be required to ride a quad bike, and drive the tractor. The farm contour is completely flat with well laid out paddocks, central races and all paddocks are irrigated to troughs. You must be able to work as part of a team and/or sole charge. There are 2 other full time workers (the farm manager and the farm owner). We are looking for an honest, hard working, experienced and reliable team player. We have a small, relaxed, flexible, family friendly team, with a drug free policy in our work place. There may be a possibility for on farm accommodation to be provided. We are situated in Longburn, 10 minutes from Palmerston north, so handy for town. Salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependant on skills and experience (competitive and fair remuneration package offered).
