Calf Rearer Required, Full Responsibility Role We are looking for an experienced and reliable calf rearer to take full responsibility for our calf-rearing season. This is a drive-in, drive-out role. We are located in Ohaupo, within approximately 15 minutes of both Cambridge and Te Awamutu. The role will run from 1 July through to 1 October, on an 11 days on, 3 days off roster. We are calving 285 cows, with approximately 140 calves reared through to weaning. This role involves taking full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the calf shed. Main duties include calf feeding, general calf shed management, monitoring calf health, keeping calves clean, dry and well-bedded, helping collect calves, navel spraying, managing calf groups, cleaning feeding equipment, maintaining calf records, and communicating clearly with the farm owners. Applicants must be confident operating a side-by-side and comfortable helping collect calves as required. We’re looking for an experienced Farm Manager with at least 3+ years of ideally New Zealand dairy experience to lead a 850 cow farm in the Morrinsville area. We run a high producing system 2-3 dairy farm. You are required to assist in the day to day milking, hosing out and some animal health. We have 1 x Role opening up for the new Season on our Autumn Farm. Two of our staff members who've been with us for multiple seasons are progressing into Share Milking and Contract Milking respectively at the end of this season. The core values of our Dairy are Efficiency, Pride, Productivity, Family and Fun. Experienced and motivated Farm Assistant required to join our farming team. Daily duties to include, but not limited to milkings, operating tractors and implements, loading feed wagons, feeding out on feedpad (up to twice a day), shifting and setting up travelling irrigators, weed control, shed cleanliness and maintenance, calving, mating etc. We are after someone who will hit the ground running and is reliable, honest, good at following directions, strong work ethic and can use their own initiative. You will have at least two years NZ dairy farming experience. We use Protrac, Pasture-Io, C-dax pasture Sleigh, CowManager etc, so an understanding of farm tech will be beneficial. We offer Agito Training support and help to progress in the industry. Must be drug free and a Pre-employment drug test is NON negotiable. Random testing is carried out throughout the season. Although this is a 12/2 roster we try and make it as cruizy as possible, later in the season if all goes well we do 3in2 or 10in7 milkings if the season allows for it. There is an ongoing requirement for relief staff to cover for regular employee time off. The farms are well maintained with good terrain and infrastructure and well located. The person needs to be someone with good stockmanship and someone who enjoys working with animals. We are seeking someone who works well in a team. A new position has become available for a keen individual to join a Filipino team in all day to day aspects of dairy farming. Experience on some level of management an advantage however training available with on farm owners. Good stock management and some experience with repairs and maintenance required. In other words if you’re applying from overseas don’t waste your time.*** Part time on farm engineer / general farm hand. Swift Agri Limited is a farming business running 3500 ewes. We lease two farms in Southland, the larger being located at Redan where most of the stock work is required and another in Winton as well as the family farm in Woodlands that we don’t handle the day to day operations of but work in closely with and where most of the engineering related tasks are carried out. We like to do most farm related tasks in house and to a high standard avoiding out sourcing work where possible. This includes servicing and maintenance of farm machinery. Due to an increased workload we are looking for a skilled individual to step in for some regular part time work so that we can continue to farm at a high standard. The ideal candidate would be a highly skilled farmer / engineer living local in lower southland area that is happy doing 30 hours per week on average with the exception of lambing and cultivation where long days every day are a given but for the rest of the year it is cruizy. If we don’t find someone that is skilled in both farming and engineering we are open to employing someone who is only suitable as a farmer or an engineer. In this situation it would be a casual contract as the hours offered would be less. There is no accommodation offered on farm and with some days being short it is not justifiable to travel great distances to the farm for this role therefore please only apply if you live close enough that you are happy to travel to Redan and Woodlands on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have a good background in dry stock farming as well as engineering and mechanical. Some key qualities / attributes we are looking for that would put you on top of our list to employ. (We don’t expect you to have all these qualities) - A good communicator that answers their phone the first time it rings. - Can listen and follow instructions when given. - Good welding / general engineering skills. - A skilled tractor operator. - Fencing skills. - Leaves property the way they find it. - Clean criminal history. - Drug free. - Completes tasks to a high standard. - A highly developed sense of urgency. - Someone that is reliable and is happy to work when required however isn’t chasing us for more hours than what are offered. A bit about the gear / equipment we run: Most of our gear is high hours and not new. We run a fleet of honda bikes from the big reds up to the 520 foreman & pioneer 1000 side by sides. A variety of tractor brands 50hp-250hp. Tripple mower combination, 5m power harrow. We have a sheep conveyor for the larger stock handling tasks.
