We are looking for a VOSM/ LOSM for the 26/27 season and beyond. The farm is 86 ha effective milking approx 250 high BW/ high producing cows through a 26a/s HB cowshed with cup removers. The land/ pasture is well established with approx 60 ha of flat/ terraces, 12 ha rolling and 14 ha steep country. The farming operation is run as system 2-3. Grass silage is harvested on farm, maize silage imported and PKE also fed through strategic periods. Farm production has been consistent at +1100 kg MS/ ha and +380 kg MS/ cow. The current VOSM has decided to retire and has been operating the farm for the 9 seasons, we are looking for someone with excellent stock skills and a high level of attention to pasture management - some areas of the farm can be challenging in this regard. The property is located 20 mins southeast of Te Puke (35-40 mins from Tauranga and 40-45 mins from Rotorua). Owners live on farm but not involved in day to day operation but like to be kept informed and involved in farm improvement projects. This is a well proven property with good infrastructure (cowshed, 3 bdr home, new effluent system etc) in a great location in the awesome Bay of Plenty. VOSM rate is very competitive, like to see operator well compensated for good outcomes/ results.

The capabilities we are looking for are: A motivated sharemilker that wants maximum milk production and loves keeping the farm in tip-top condition. Excellent pasture management skills and weed control. Good repair and maintenance skills and the ability to operate machinery safely. Has a strong track record of achieving production targets, managing Milk quality, environmental and Health and safety compliance. Has administrative and financial proficiency to manage record keeping, compliance requirements and operate their share milking business profitably. Understands that success as a sharemilker milker requires working in partnership with others with great communication, a proactive approach, working with the farm owner and suppliers. Tumunui Trust is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic 50:50 sharemilker for their Tumunui Te Raki Farm situated 15 mins south of Rotorua. We are looking for someone who is currently sharemilking and looking to scale up in size. The farm is 608 ha in total made up of a milking platform of 540 ha and a support block of 68 ha. The plan is to peak milk 900 cows and run a 22% replacement rate on the support block. Infrastructure on the farm is good. The shed is a 60 bale rotary with an in-shed feed system. The farm is switching from a split calving system to spring calving only. The production target is 300,000 kgMS. A regular fertiliser plan provided by a CNMA is followed. Between 100-120 kgN/ha is applied annually. Winter and summer crops (approx 30ha) are grown annually both on the milking platform and the support block. The farm is hilly with some steeper areas so you must be competent to manage a farm of this type. A sound understanding of the requirements for maintaining production, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability on such land is essential. You need to be a good and flexible pasture manager. We are looking for someone who has a commitment to compliance in all aspects of NZ dairy farming, strong communication and reporting skills — you’ll work closely with our farm consultant and the Tumunui Trustees, and a collaborative attitude and respect for the values of a Māori Trust.
