We milk through a 60 bail rotary with acrs - only one person required in shed. The farm a mix of flat to hilly contour based in Reporoa. Some of the areas you will need to have proven yourself in are: feeding out/tractor driving, motorbike experience and the ability to navigate hilly paddocks, milk harvesting, treating cow health issues, using automatic drafting, setting up paddocks, dealing with calving difficulties and down cows. Renumeration/title would be dependant on experience. We aim to provide a positive working environment and with open communication and sharing of knowledge. Due to our long-serving 2IC of six years moving on at the end of the season, we are seeking a new person to take up the role starting 1 June 2026. **About the farm:** This well-run 250 cow dairy farm is located in Mihi, Reporoa, and produces approximately 100,000 kg MS/yr. Cows are milked twice daily year-round through an 18-aside herringbone shed. The farm operates as a System 3 with in-shed feeding throughout the year and baleage fed during the shoulder seasons. Plantain is grown to support summer milk production and achieve farm environmental targets. Datamars ear tags are used to support heat detection during mating. The effective milking platform is currently 81 hectares predominantly flat to rolling contour with a small amount of steeper terrain. The farm is part of a multi-farm business including two similar-sized dairy units and a drystock/support block. **About the role:** We are seeking a motivated person to fill the 2IC position and take an active role in the day-to-day management of the farm. You will be involved in all aspects of the dairy farm, including: - Sole charge milking - Pasture management and feed allocation - Animal health - Calf rearing - Effluent management - Weed control - General farm maintenance and management You will report directly to the farm owner who is on hand to provide support when required. There is also an existing farm assistant who supports the 2IC across both farms. Understands and assists with development and monitors throughout season; assists with developing farm budget. Safely uses and maintains vehicles on farm as directed by on farm policy. Supports and trains junior employees in their development. Assist with additional farm tasks & projects as required. Requirements: Tertiary qualification (Level 4 or higher), ideally in dairy, but will also consider qualifications in management/business/administration/leadership or another field, or At least 3 years' experience in the dairy farm industry, with excellent knowledge of dairy farm framework.
