We are looking for an experienced and motivated 2IC who is ready to take the next step in their career.
The property milks 420 (peak) jersey cross cows on 150ha with reliable infrastructure. The farm has well established systems and offers a supportive environment for someone wanting to grow in the industry. You will work closely with the Sharemilkers and the Farm Assistant in the team of 3, and sometimes also as part of the larger farm team.
Animal health is at the forefront of our operation and identifying, recording and treating all animal health is critical. Milking is through a 30-aside herringbone.
This farm is typically system 1 with little to no brought in feed therefore pasture management is essential and an integral part of the farm. Weekly pasture scoring is non-negotiable and excellent communication with the share milker regarding residuals is essential.
We are looking for someone with solid dairy experience who is ready for more responsibility and committed to progressing their career. You will need to have a minimum of 3 years NZ dairy experience. Remuneration will be based on experience in the 60-80k range. Hours would be approx. 45/wk.
Duties include but not limited to milking, setting up breaks, allocating pasture, tractor work, animal health, effluent management and general dairy farm duties.

- Strong pasture management skills – confident making grazing plans and monitoring pasture quality.
- Competent tractor operator – feeding out, fencing, and general farm machinery work.
- Milking experience – consistent, efficient and able to maintain shed routines to a high standard.
- Animal health awareness – able to identify early signs of illness, detect mastitis, monitor cow condition, and carry out treatments accurately following farm protocols.
- Reliable, honest, and hardworking – someone who takes ownership of their work and communicates clearly.
- Competent hoof trimming or confident lameness management.
- Understanding of reproduction and heat detection.
- Eagerness to learn, improve and step into more responsibility when ready.
- Team player – positive attitude and able to support a smooth, respectful working environment.
