We milk 240 pedigree Friesian autumn cows through a 28 ASHB, using Protrack and Alflex collars on our 245ha property. You will work as part of a team to complete daily tasks such as milking, shifting stock, effluent, cropping, general farm maintenance and feeding out on a pad. All young stock are on farm. We are a self sufficient unit, undertaking everything from silage, cropping, fertiliser and earthworks ourselves. This position operates on an 11 on 3 off roster, with the 3 days making a long weekend. During those 11 days, there will be 2 additional mornings rostered off. This position would suit someone with a minimum 2 years experience, and previous tractor experience would be an advantage. On farm accommodation is available in the form of a 3 bedroom house with a double garage. We are situated 20 mins south of Dargaville and close to schools, beach and lakes. School bus at the end of the driveway. We have a job available for a dairy farm assistant on a 550-cow farm in the Parakao area, approximately 30 minutes west of Whangarei, milking through a 50 Bail Rotary shed. Experience is preferred but not required for this role. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking twice a day - Shifting cows and feeding - Fencing, weed control - Calving, calf rearing - Shed cleaning and setup - Identifying and alerting managers to sick cows - Setting fences - And other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 45 and a maximum of 55. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary but generally work hours are between 4:30am and go through 5:30pm with meal and rest breaks; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off for the rest of the year. We are looking for a Farm Assistant to join our team, milking 700 cows twice daily in a 28-bail rotary shed. You will have your own reliable transportation and local accommodation. We are seeking an experienced full time farm assistant. This is a full time permanent position, minimum 40 hours per week. Main duties will include milking, stock work, break fences, tractor work, feeding out supplements, effluent application, spraying weeds, fixing fences, and calf rearing. Some shed responsibility will also be required, for example experience with plant washes and/or vat washes. Animal husbandry experience, able to identify and treat sick animals, whether its mastitis, lameness, milk fever cows etc. Ability to identify that, that animal looks unwell. Two years general experience would be great. You will be working alongside with farm owner, 2 x staff and/or independently. We run a 400 cow herd through a 36ASHB Milking Pedigree Jerseys milking TAD. System 3-4, with silage, crops and PKE/Mix. We are 30mins north of Whangarei.
