We’re looking for someone to jump on board and help out on our dairy farm. Someone down to earth who enjoys farming, values a good lifestyle outside of work, and is willing to step up when needed. We milk 550 cows through a modern shed with cup removers, collars and auto drafting. The farm’s irrigated, well set up, and has good gear and machinery to work with. 10mins from Featherston, Martinborough and Greytown. You’ll get stuck into a bit of everything — milking, feeding out, shifting stock, animal health, tractor work and general day to day farm jobs. You’ll be working alongside the owner, so good communication, honesty and a decent attitude go a long way. Comes with a tidy 3-bedroom house with a fire and heat pump. Castlecor Farm is located in Meath, Central Ireland, and is operating under a farm partnership. Running 450 Spring Calving LIC X-Breed Cows on a New Zealand Pasture-based system 2 type system. We're looking for someone for a 2IC assistant manager role due to our current 2IC progressing to a management role in the industry, after over two year with us. Start date negotiable anytime between July and November. This is a permanent position with your own accommodation provided on-farm. Your position will consist of helping the herd owner/ farm manager operate the farm on day to day basis and leading the operation of the farm when the manager isn’t present. Your main roles would include, but are not limited to; - Assisting the farm manager in the general day-to-day operation of the farm, including: - Grass management, allocating feed and setting up breaks. - Herd health and general animal care. - Caring out the day to day operation of the farm when the manager is away. - Milking - Tractor work and feeding out - Breaks and break feeding - General maintenance and spraying - Some young stock work on heifer grazing farm - General treatment and animal husbandry of cows and calve in spring. Pay is negotiable depending on experience, ability and attitude. We are seeking an experienced farm manager to join our team. The farm is local to Gore. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. We are looking for someone that is motivated, reliable, good communication and can be a good role model to the team. Previous farm management experience a must. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. We lease two farms in Southland, the larger being located at Redan where most of the stock work is required and another in Winton as well as the family farm in Woodlands that we don’t handle the day to day operations of but work in closely with and where most of the engineering related tasks are carried out. We like to do most farm related tasks in house and to a high standard avoiding out sourcing work where possible. This includes servicing and maintenance of farm machinery. Due to an increased workload we are looking for a skilled individual to step in for some regular part time work so that we can continue to farm at a high standard. The ideal candidate would be a highly skilled farmer / engineer living local in lower southland area that is happy doing 30 hours per week on average with the exception of lambing and cultivation where long days every day are a given but for the rest of the year it is cruizy. If we don’t find someone that is skilled in both farming and engineering we are open to employing someone who is only suitable as a farmer or an engineer. In this situation it would be a casual contract as the hours offered would be less. There is no accommodation offered on farm and with some days being short it is not justifiable to travel great distances to the farm for this role therefore please only apply if you live close enough that you are happy to travel to Redan and Woodlands on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have a good background in dry stock farming as well as engineering and mechanical. We are looking for an experienced person who can work well as part of a team and by themselves. This is a sole charge and fixed term position. Start date will be 1st of August to approximately 1st of October earlier start possible to negotiate. Key attributes we are looking for is someone with excellent attention to detail - can pick up sick calves quickly, makes sure animal welfare is priority, has great calfshed/gear hygiene and is physically fit. Main jobs include: - Making sure each calf gets gold colostrum - Teaching new calves to feed - feeding all calves twice daily - ensuring calves have clean water, meal and hay daily - keeping up with hygiene practices (cleaning calf feeders/bottles/buckets daily) - disinfection of calf pens via spraying virkon and sprinkling stalosan. We are located between Mandeville and Riversdale 15 minutes from Gore. We calve 650 cows. We aim to rear around 180 replacement heifers, sell 4 day old beefies and bobbies. All milk is pumped to each pen the only handling of buckets is gold colostrum and bobby milk. Great gear and facilities, on average 6 hours per day Drive in position. We are seeking an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as a Herd Manager on a 1500-cow farm in the Balfour area. The farm is located approximately 45 minutes from Gore, milking through two Herringbone sheds. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - training junior staff, - stock handling and feeding (feed mgt), - fencing, weed control, - calving, calf rearing, - shed maintenance & preparation, - tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage - monitoring, recording and maintaining animal health - and other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary; Roster will be 6 days on, 1 day off during calving season and 12 days on, 2 days off for the rest of the year. Wage is $29.66 per hour. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references.
