Farm Manager

We’re looking for an experienced Farm Manager with at least 3+ years of ideally New Zealand dairy experience to lead a 850 cow farm in the Morrinsville area. We are seeking an experienced farm manager to join our team. The farm is local to Gore. The farm milks 800 cows through a rotary shed, we run a 5 on 2 off roster. 3 other full timers on farm plus seasonal calf rearer. We are looking for someone that is motivated, reliable, good communication and can be a good role model to the team. Previous farm management experience a must. The role will include making pasture management decisions, management of the cowshed, managing the other staffs day to day, delegating jobs etc working with farm supervisor. Assist twice daily with milking, shed hygiene and set up. Fencing, weed eradication, cropping, feeding stock, identifying and treating animal health issues, health and safety requirements, calving, calf rearing, machinery operations including motorbikes and tractors, farm maintenance and all other general farm duties which includes but is not limited to fixing water leaks, shifting the effluent spreader and shifting stock. About the farm, We will be milking 350-400 cows this season, through a 30ASHB with automatic cup removers. Brand new undercover feedpad and smart shelter that all of our cows calve in. Location: Ruawai Flats We are looking for an Assistant Calf Rearer / Farm Assistant. Someone to help rear calves during the spring. Assist with the day to day running of the farm e.g milking, break fences, basic tractor work, shifting irrigator. Working alongside contract milkers and farm assistant, about 25-40 hours per fortnight. Experience not necessary. You must be willing to learn and reliability is a must.
