About us and our farm… We our a couple who have in the dairy industry for the past 10 years, we share milk our beautiful 500 kiwi cross breed cows on a 190ha farm, through a 55 bail rotary shed, equipped with a Protrack drafting system, automatic teat sprayer, automatic cup removers, and auto wash system. We are also putting halter on for our next season which we are really excited about! We milk our cows OAD year round.(Cups on is 6am)We encourage a good work to life balance and care about our staff’s wellbeing. Calf rearer required - fixed term position. Minimum of 2 years experience, must be skilled in identifying health issues early, tubing calves with colostrum and administering treatments. An eye for detail and a stickler for keeping routine. Position runs from August 1 to January 31. Farm Size: 250 ha. Peak Herd Size: 775 cows. Typical On-farm Staff: 3.5. Average Hours Per week: 50. We are seeking an experienced farm worker (2+ years) to work as a Herd Manager on a 1000-cow operation in the Ranfurly area, milking through a 50 Rotary Bale shed. You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: - Milking and monitoring milk quality, - Training junior staff, - Stock handling and feeding (feed management), - Fencing, weed control, - Calving, calf rearing, - Shed maintenance & preparation, - Tractor operation for feeding out, baling, mowing and silage monitoring, - Recording and maintaining animal health, - Other general farm duties. Weekly hours are a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 50. Since farm work is dependent on a number of unknown factors like weather and animals, any hours worked beyond the agreed maximum in a fortnightly pay period will be paid at the agreed overtime rate. The schedule may vary; Roster will be 11 days on, 3 days off. Salary is between $80,000 - $88,000 per annum, subject to experience. Candidates must have previous dairy farming experience and are required to provide good related references. We are on the hunt for a reliable and motivated casual worker who would be interested in an array of on farm duties on our beef farm. We have 3 positions available for calf rearers near Rangiora. We have 1300 cows and rear 350 replacements in total over 2 farms. The focus is on attention to detail and healthy replacement and bobby calves as well as running an efficient calf rearing system. All roles require a strong, physically capable person able to handle calves. The farms are 1km from Rangiora. Accommodation is available for all positions if required. 1. Lead calf rearer – this person will be responsible for the calf rearing team and be involved with planning with the farm manager. This role requires proven experience with calf rearing and an ability to work with staff. The role is fulltime from late July to late September, and then hours reducing until all the calves are weaned in early December. 2. Calf rearing 2ic – this role will be to support the lead calf rearer and maintain high standards. This is a fulltime position from late July to late September. Some calf rearing experience preferred. 3. Assistant calf rearer. – this person will be physically capable and help with the peak of calving. No experience needed. We are looking for a drive-in, full time calf rearer, to work alongside a part-timer and the permanent staff. Rearing approximately 80 heifer replacements, with the rest beef calves which will leave the farm at 4-6 days old. Due to the scale of the operation, experience would be preferred. Calf Rearer – Casual (Drive-In) Motuiti Farms – Foxton We are seeking a motivated and reliable Calf Rearer to join our team for the coming calving season (July to August / early September). This is a casual, drive-in position, located 5 minutes from Foxton township. About the Farm Motuiti Farms is a well-established, 10-year-old dairy farm with excellent calf-rearing infrastructure, including a 12-bay calf rearing shed located beside the milking shed. Due to our current farm manager wanting to have a change in his farming role, and our current 2ic getting another Managers role for next season, we are on the lookout for a motivated person who is keen to take the next step in the Dairy Industry. We are after a well rounded person that is after a dairy farm managers position in North Otago. We milk 1100 cows and have a split calving of 900 spring, and 200 autumn calvers. We milk all year and have acquired a feed pad to do this. We will winter cows on farm and we have an adjacent runoff where we run all our young stock. We have a 320ha platform that is irrigated via spray irrigation (Pivots, Fixed Grid, Kline). Cows are milked through a 60 bail Waikato Rotary cowshed. Its equipped with cup removers, Protrack and inshed feeding. We have used Allflex collars on our cows for 9 seasons and are looking into other options of wearables currently. The successful applicant would run the day to day management of the dairy platform. Cows, Grass, feeding, people and harvesting the milk in an efficient way. We would offer support through the farm owner and current manager working alongside the applicant to find their feet and to learn our system. We have an existing team of capable and good humans, and we like to foster a fun and safe work environment for our team that makes our farm an enjoyable place to work.
