We are experienced sharemilkers running a modern 1,500 Cow Dairy Farm in Awamoko, North Otago with a new 80 bale rotary - along with neighboring runoff, and we’re looking for an experienced General Farm Hand to join our team. This is a role for someone who wants variety, responsibility, and potential long term development within the industry. We have a 320ha platform that is irrigated via spray irrigation (Pivots, Fixed Grid, Kline). Cows are milked through a 60 bail Waikato Rotary cowshed. Its equipped with cup removers, Protrack and inshed feeding. We have used Allflex collars on our cows for 9 seasons and are looking into other options of wearables currently. The successful applicant would run the day to day management of the dairy platform. Cows, Grass, feeding, people and harvesting the milk in an efficient way. We would offer support through the farm owner and current manager working alongside the applicant to find their feet and to learn our system. Farm Worker

We are seeking an experienced milker & farmhand to assist with general farm duties and milking a 400 cow Friesian herd, in a 42 bale rotary milking shed with automatic cup removers. This is a full time position, and the roster is 12 days on, 2 days off (i.e every second weekend off). Morning milkings are usually between 4:30-7:30am and afternoons are usually between 2:00 – 4:30pm. Other farm duties you may be involved with will include general farm duties e.g: · Shifting cows & feeding · Fencing, weed control · Shed cleaning and set up · Identifying and alerting other staff/vet about sick animals You will be required to ride a quad bike, and drive the tractor. The farm contour is completely flat with well laid out paddocks, central races and all paddocks are irrigated to troughs. You must be able to work as part of a team and/or sole charge. There are 2 other full time workers (the farm manager and the farm owner). We are looking for an honest, hard working, experienced and reliable team player. We have a small, relaxed, flexible, family friendly team, with a drug free policy in our work place. There may be a possibility for on farm accommodation to be provided. We are situated in Longburn, 10 minutes from Palmerston north, so handy for town.
