*PART-TIME FARM WORKER REQUIRED - JULY TO SEPT & MARCH TO MAY* Drive-in position (15 minutes from New Plymouth - farm is by the Airport) 290 cows Split calving - 200 in autumn & 100 in spring System 4 - maize & silage grown on farm, PK bought in Needing someone from July - Sept & March - May (about 6 months of calving but there can potentially be more work throughout the season) 4-5 hours in the morning, wrapping up by 9/9:30am (this is flexible for the right person) Pay is negotiable $25 - $35+ per hour depending on farming experience and distance travelled Opportunity for more hours/relief milking work for the right person! You'll be working alongside me and occasionally my partner will tag along. Both of us are team-players, passionate about the industry and enjoy having a laugh. The ideal person would be someone who's had some experience in the industry, who has moved to town and is looking for a bit of casual farm work without the pressure of decision making. However willing to give the right person a crack as well. Would be ideal if you are competent on farm i.e. around stock, bikes, tractors etc. but training can be provided. Drive in relief milker required, located near Waianiwa (approx. 20mins from Invercargill, 20mins from Winton). Approx. 3-4 Milking’s a week at this stage. Flexible with days/dates. Approx. 280 cows in older 24 aside herringbone shed. Cups on approx. 7AM & 5PM, but flexible. Cows generally close to shed & fences all set up. Must have milking experience and be able to work sole charge. Must be able to ride a quad. Roughly 3hrs in morning & 2 1/2 hours in afternoons.

Due to our current Farm management people heading to new opportunities, we are looking for a capable person with experience in the dairy industry to help manage our 1100 cow Dairy Farm at Ngapara North Otago. This position would involve running the day to day system on the dairy farm, grass, cows, staff. 900 cows calved in spring and 200 in autumn. Milk all year round. Strengths needed for this role is a good understanding of pasture management, animal husbandry, staff management, irrigation and an ability to problem solve. A great attitude and good communication is also a must. The role would allow the opportunity for growth and development of your skills, while enhancing the skills you already have. We use a lot of technology to run farm, so need the applicant to have the skills to use it (Allflex collars, Protrack, irrigation technology etc). Due to our current farm manager wanting to have a change in his farming role, and our current 2ic getting another Managers role for next season, we are on the lookout for a motivated person who is keen to take the next step in the Dairy Industry. We are after a well rounded person that is after a dairy farm managers position in North Otago. We milk 1100 cows and have a split calving of 900 spring, and 200 autumn calvers. We milk all year and have acquired a feed pad to do this. We will winter cows on farm and we have an adjacent runoff where we run all our young stock. We have a 320ha platform that is irrigated via spray irrigation (Pivots, Fixed Grid, Kline). Cows are milked through a 60 bail Waikato Rotary cowshed. Its equipped with cup removers, Protrack and inshed feeding. We have used Allflex collars on our cows for 9 seasons and are looking into other options of wearables currently. The successful applicant would run the day to day management of the dairy platform. Cows, Grass, feeding, people and harvesting the milk in an efficient way. We would offer support through the farm owner and current manager working alongside the applicant to find their feet and to learn our system. **Job Description** Autumn Calving Farm - We need an extra hand over our busy Calving-Mating season. Starting Early March and finishing late August (7 months). We have 480 Friesian cows to calve from 10 March- 20 May over 12 weeks. We are setting up a new automated calf feeding shed - which is still work in progress. The position will involve: - The whole calf rearing process from assisting collecting calves from paddock. - Feeding Colostrum for first 4-5 days. - Transitioning calves onto the autofeeders. - Mixing Milk powder (which requires lifting 25 kg bags). - Cleaning and washing down calf feeding area daily. - Feeding Meal and Straw to calves (25 kg meal bags). - Feeding calves in paddock, shifting calves to other paddocks. - Assist with Milking when other staff have days off. - Assist with post Milking Clean up. - Assist with other general farm duties when other staff have days off. You will need to have experience working on a dairy farm and completed a calving season (our Peak busy period will be 15 March -15 June). You will milking in 50 Bale rotary on your own when rostered on, so you must be confident to operate shed and detect mastitis. Hours Start 5:15 am finish 5:45 pm.
