The farm is a flat, well developed and tidy farm with very good housing and sheds. As farm manager, you will take full responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the dairy operation. You will work closely with the farm owners to meet production, animal health and financial targets while leading and developing the farm and staff to their full potential. Ashton is currently BEL Group’s largest dairy farm and will operate in its current form through to 31 May 2027. The farm is flat, well established, and supported by a strong, loyal, and experienced team. For the upcoming season, Ashton will continue operating as a split-calving system. At the same time, the farm will begin a major development programme, including the rollout of full irrigation and significant infrastructure upgrades over the next 18 months. Once that transition is complete and the new operating model is in place, Ashton will move to a smaller, autumn-calving system. We’re looking for a Future Farm Manager — someone ready for the next step, working alongside an on-farm senior manager and supported by the Operations Manager. You’ll share day-to-day responsibility during the current phase and contribute to the development programme and transition to the new farm system. We are looking for someone who not only has the skills to manage the day to operations of our organic dairy farm but also has the skills for budgeting and long term strategic and environmental planning. The job requires a high level of attention to detail, proactive decision making and most importantly care and empathy for our cows, the land and our people. We have a great managers position on our 800 cow farm in Patoka, Hawke's Bay. The dairy platform is 300 ha of flat to rolling country with an adjoining 350 ha runoff/beef block where we graze youngstock and winter all cows on crop and Baleage. We are milking 800 cows through a 50 bale rotary with ACRs and automatic teat sprayer. 150 -200 cows are milked OAD for most of the season. We have Halter on both the dairy platform and wintering area of the support block to help with pasture, crop and animal management. We are looking for someone who has solid experience in dairy farming and is confident and competent in managing the day to day running of the dairy farm. Your main area of responsibilities would be managing the milking process and cowshed, record keeping, animal health, pasture/crop management, and 2 other staff. We are supportive owners who live on farm and take care of the calf rearing and the support block. We are always keen to see good people progress in the dairy industry so this position could suit someone looking to step up into their first management position who still wants a bit of support and guidance when needed, or equally could suit an experienced manager. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Farm Manager for the 2026/27 season onwards to run one of our 2 farms in Patoka, Napier. We are looking for a happy, mature, tidy, motivated, independent, and hardworking farmer and someone that can be trusted and with a sense of ownership to the farm and with a good understanding of technology. You will lead a team of 4 to maximise the potential of the farm in an effective and efficient way with the support of the management.
